Shamsul has shown great interest in law even before he graduated with LL.B (Hons) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. He had the privilege of being elected as the President of the ASEAN Law Students Association (ALSA) and also the Pro-tem Chairman of Malaysian Law Students Association (MALSA).Shamsul is now qualified Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya as well as qualified Syariah Counsel.

Prior to joining Yusof Rahmat & Co. he worked as a Training Consultant in one of the leading consultant companies in Kuala Lumpur. His advices on the area of strategic development, and personnel development as well as same legal issues relating to human resource and commercial.

Shamsul leads the firms Syariah practise. At present, he has a Diploma in Syariah & Legal Practice from International Islamic University Malaysia. Shamsul was attached with a leading Syariah, Criminal and Civil Litigation law firm where he mainly attends matters in areas such as commercial litigation, banking litigation, criminal litigation and also Syariah litigation. The breadth of his Syariah practise is very wide as it includes Islamic family registration, divorce settlement, property dispute settlement like hibah, wasiat and also Syariah criminal cases.

He is also conversant in Civil & Criminal litigation. Currently, Shamsul is a legal adviser to one of the leading construction companies where he is involved in all aspects of the construction industry including owners, developers, contractors, sub-contractors, engineers, architects, insurers and suppliers. He is also involved in claims preparation and assisting in dispute resolution through the forums of amicable settlement, mediation or arbitration.

Shamsul had also given advice on entertainment-related laws which covers music, publishing, television and agreements with respect to the artiste and management, agency and promoters, artiste’s direct signing recording contract, record producers, song writing, group membership and merchandising.

In May 2007, Shamsul was elected as KeADILan Youh Chief, known as Angkatan Muda KeADILan Malaysia for 2007 – 2010.
